FHLBNY Affordable Housing Advisory Council Open Nomination Period – For 2026 Service

The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (“FHLBNY”) is now accepting nominations for the FHLBNY’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council (“Advisory Council”). Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made by submitting a nomination form via the below link, along with the nominee’s resume or biographical statement, to the FHLBNY by 5:00 p.m. ET on June 6, 2025, to be considered. The results of the nomination process will be communicated by December 31, 2025.

The Advisory Council’s role is to provide advice to FHLBNY’s staff and the Housing Committee of the Board of Directors on ways in which the FHLBNY can better carry out its housing and community lending mission. On at least a quarterly basis, the Advisory Council meets with members of the Board of Directors and management.

The FHLBNY seeks to have balanced representation on the Advisory Council and will draw nominees from across the district (New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and from a diverse range of community and nonprofit organizations actively involved in providing or promoting very low-, low- and moderate-income housing within the district. Selected Advisory Council members are appointed by FHLBNY’s Board of Directors to serve for a term of three years and may be re-appointed for additional terms, but not to exceed three consecutive three-year terms.

We are currently seeking to fill vacancies on the Advisory Council with representatives serving Southern New Jersey, non-metro New York (Upstate, Western, and North Country regions), Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Native American community within our District. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated history of service in their respective communities; a solid understanding of national, state, Commonwealth, and/or local affordable housing and community development trends and best practices; and expertise in a pertinent field related to affordable housing and community development such as real estate development, residential or commercial lending, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), social/supportive services, and/or public policy. Employees of FHLBNY member financial institutions are not eligible to serve on the Advisory Council.

We encourage you to nominate qualified candidates who are willing and committed to advising the FHLBNY in meeting its housing and community lending mission. If you have any questions about the Advisory Council or the nomination process, please contact Peter Grof at Peter.Grof@fhlbny.com.
