Mortgage Asset program
MAP® HomeAssist
Beginning April 30, 2026, the MAP HomeAssist Program will offer Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) reimbursements of $12,000 per loan for eligible credits extended to low- to moderate-income (LMI)* borrowers at the time of closing.
Benefits of MAP HomeAssist Program
How homebuyers benefit:
The cost of financing a home has risen significantly; primarily driven by high interest rates, increasing home prices and low housing inventory. With the new MAP HomeAssist Program, PFIs can provide funding to support down payments and closing costs for low- to moderate-income borrowers. MAP HomeAssist funding helps reduce monthly principal and interest payments—improving overall home affordability.
How PFIs benefit:
MAP’s reimbursement to PFIs administering MAP HomeAssist allows members to better serve their communities by extending credit to homebuyers.
How PFIs can Participate
When committing a loan through MAP HomeAssist, PFIs must tag the Delivery Commitment (DC) in the MAP Connect System with “HomeAssist” or “LMI HAP,” along with the loan number and the subject property’s address at the time of creation. The PFI must:

- Identify DC by tagging, e.g. “LMI HAP- 20260420 - 123 Main Street, Anywhere, NJ 02134” (Address will be used to verify the Area Median Income).
- Upon delivery, provide MAP the Closing Disclosure showing that the MAP HomeAssist was applied to the loan.
The LMI identifier is already part of the PFI process of committing an LMI loan. Program funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, until the total funds are used.

- Borrower: Qualifying Income ≤ 80% AMI
- Property: Single Family, 1 Unit
