FHLBNY Bulletin No. 014

Heartbleed Open SSL vulnerability

On Tuesday April 8, 2014, the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s (FHLBNY) security monitoring services was alerted to the Heartbleed Bug. Management conducted a complete system review of our infrastructure to identify “at risk” systems and assess for vulnerabilities. We have determined the Heartbleed bug did not exist within our member-facing applications or their security protocols. As a result, the FHLBNY has concluded these systems were not vulnerable to this bug nor exploited to compromise data and other information.

Information Security is a top priority for FHLBNY. As dictated by standard policies and practices, the FHLBNY will continue to actively monitor our infrastructure for potential security vulnerabilities.
